2012-P 5 oz Silver ATB Acadia (w/Box & COA.

Released as the third of five 2012-dated strikes in their respective series are the 2012 Acadia America the Beautiful 5 Oz Silver Coins. The reverse of these silver coins contains a design emblematic of Acadia National Park found in the state of Maine.

The 2012 Acadia America the Beautiful 5 Oz Silver Coins are actually struck as part of two different US Mint series - the America the BeautifulSilver Bullion Coins and the America the Beautiful Five Ounce Uncirculated Coins. Both series feature similar specifications as well as nearly identical designs.

Those designs are actually originally created for and taken from a third US Mint series, America the Beautiful Quarters Program. As such, the obverse contains the same portrait of George Washington by John Flanagan seen on all of the quarters of the series like the associated Acadia Quarter.

Reverse designs for each coin in the America the Beautiful related series is reserved for the design emblematic of the selected site of national interest, in this case Acadia National Park of Maine. The Mint describes the design of the related Acadia Quarter (and thus these Acadia 5 oz Silver Coins) this way:

"The reverse of the third quarter of 2012 depicts a view of the Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse and Acadia's rough coastline. Inscriptions are ACADIA, MAINE, 2012 andE PLURIBUS UNUM. The reverse was designed by AIP Associate Designer Barbara Fox and sculpted by United States Mint Sculptor-Engraver Joseph Menna."

A total of fifty-six sites of national interest will be honored under each America the Beautiful Program. Five are featured each year from the inaugural year of 2010 until the last strikes are released in 2021.

The 2012 Acadia Silver Bullion Coin is released by the US Mint as part of the America the Beautiful Silver Bullion Coin Program. Coins of this series are struck for investors and are sold through the Mint's network of authorized purchasers. These purchasers obtain the coins in bulk from the Mint, then resell them in smaller quantities to individuals, coin and precious metal dealers, etc. for a small premium above the current spot price of the five ounces of silver in each.

Weight: 5 Troy Ounces Diameter: 76.20 mm. Thickness: 4.064 mm. The coin will come in a Air-Tite Type Plastic Capsule and Box & COA
