Sometimes referred to in its day as the Indian Head Nickel, this design from James Earle Fraser was used on the nations 5-cent piece from 1913 to 1938, and today it is replicated on countless products ranging from the US Mints American Gold Buffalo bullion coin to silver round.

Round Highlights:

On the obverse of the 1 oz SilverTowne Buffalo Silver Round is the right-profile portrait of a Native American. In the upper-right portion of the design fields edge is an engraving of Liberty. Fraser would not say for decades who the inspiration was for this Native American design, eventually admitting that he combined the facial and physical features of three individuals to create the image.
