1943 Roll of 50 Circulated Steel Pennies P, D & S Mint Marks. A variety of the U.S. one-cent coin with the same design of the copper Lincoln cent, the 1943 zinc-coated steel penny is a wartime issue which was struck in steel due to shortages of copper during World War II. These were minted in Philadelphia, Denver and San Francisco.
