This is a 2022 Goldback

The creation of the Goldback relies on 5th generation vacuum deposition technology. The designs are printed on a sheet of polymer that is then bombarded with the correct amount of atomized gold particles in a vacuum chamber. This gold is then sealed inside by a second protective barrier of polymer, thus creating a beautiful negative image. Valaurum has been developing the process for nearly two decades and it has never been counterfeited. It is truly the most technologically advanced process for creating a physical gold money in the world today.

These Goldbacks are a form of voluntary local currency, comprised of gold. The notes are "printed on" Aurum, a unique polyester film. Each 5 Goldback note contains 1/200th oz. of 24-karat fine gold.

Obverse: The obverse is full of imagery that relates to the state of Nevada. The obverse of this special note features "Sophia" a depiction of Athena the Greek goddess of wisdom. The design features a pillar which has a base that reads "all for our country." This vertical member symbolizes the soundness of gold as a form of money. A pillar image is shown on each Goldback denomination. Sophia holds mining tool representing Nevada's mining heritage. A wagon wheel and Mill represent Nevada's settlers. The state bird of Nevada, the Mountain Blue Bird is also featured.

The designer Cheri Jensen created the designs for both the Nevada and Utah Goldbacks.
