The Indian Head Half Eagle (1908-1929) was designed by Bela Lyon Pratt with the engraver being Charles Barber. The U.S. Mint began minting this gold eagle in 1908 when Theodore Roosevelt was President. This eagle gold coin showcases an Indian wearing a feathered headdress while looking towards the left. The design was the first real Indian to appear on American Gold Coins.
