American Gold Buffalo Coins
History and Description: Authorized by the Presidential $1 Coin Act (Public Law 109-145) on December 22, 2005 - the American Buffalo Gold Coin makes a distinctive addition to any collection. The obverse and reverse designs of the coin feature images originally prepared for the U.S. 5-cent coin (nickel) by noted American sculptor James Earle Fraser, who was once a student of Augustus Saint-Gaudens. American Buffalo Gold Coins are also the first .9999 fine 24-karat gold coins ever struck by the United States Mint. All 24-Karat American Buffalo Gold Coins are struck at the US Mint at West Point.
